ADHD Treatments For Adults

Stimulant Medications
The drugs increase brain chemicals that control self-regulation and attention. They include methylphenidate, available under the brand names Ritalin and Concerta as well as stimulants belonging to the amphetamine family, such as lisdexamphetamine. About 15%-30 percent of children do not respond to stimulant medication, and this is likely applicable to adults as well. Non-stimulant medications take longer to take effect and it could take as long as a few weeks for you notice any effects. They do not have the same negative side effects and are a better option for those who are unable to tolerate stimulants or fear of addiction.
